Initial RAID 10 Diagnostic
Drives #2 and #3 from the RAID 1+0 array appear to be in a mirror set, both drives are relatively healthy and synchronized up to 1 day ago. Data on this mirror set described as having been previously recovered by them (obviously a partial recovery, as the data is striped across to the other set)
Drive #1 reads sectors, but has multiple bad sectors (recommend hardware imaging on DDI or PC-3000)
Drive #4 does not spin up at all. (recommend clean room inspection)
Hard Drive #4 Diagnostics
Drive connected to power supply confirming that it does not spin up. Sight hum heard several times confirming PCB is attempting to power motor.
Drive brought to clean room and opened for visual inspection. Inspection revealed extreme gouging on platters and totally black air filter (shown in picture).
Recovery of this drive is impossible and all further attempts are aborted.
Hard Drive #1 Diagnostic
Hard drive connected to PC-3000 and powered on (Correctly identifies and comes ready).
Backup of critical modules, ROM, and other resources made.
Drive imaged in Data Extractor Software (completed with ~3000 bad sectors – 99.999% cloned)
Data was then inspected and found to have been last accessed in March 2012 (extremely outdated – drive has been offline for quite some time).
RAID 10 Recovery Summary
Due to one drive being offline for so long and the other having catastrophically failed the current data of the RAID 10 array cannot be substantially recovered.
