ST2000VM003 headmap

Hi Guys

I have a ST2000VM003 here with a big ring on the top platter.
I'm trying to do a headmap like ACE explains here: http://blog.acelaboratory.com/pc-3000-f ... maged.html

but after ROM write and power off/on, the motor doesn't even spin up.
Is there any trick on this family?

The Most Funny thing i Heard From The TS Support Guys Is That Heads Should Not Be Physically Cut But Bent ,They Say When You Cut Heads Physically Drive Can Never Read Or Calibrate ,I Fell of My Chair I Have No Idea How Many Times I Have Done This .Can i Have a Look At This Case Remotely

You bet. It was hopeless trying to fit side cutters in between heads and these fit right in.

Just found out that this family still don't allow Headmap in RAM or ROM....

Isn't this a Bacall? I can edit headmap in RAM on a ST2000VM003 with firmware ES22.

Yes, it's a Bacall. Mine have FW SC23

Amarbir, what tool are you using to snip the heads?

Sorry To Check Your Post Late ,Most of The Time I Am Working On Bottom Or Top Heads so a tweezer with up down actions was enough to do the trick .If you have a Nipper you need to file the front outer side of nipper so that it can go inside the inner heads .I have no idea of sams stuff if it works or not .But i have noticed that a tool that works for 3.5" will not work for 2.5" and also for tighter platter / heads spacing drives like the 3 platter samsung 2.5" M9E's .
