Data recovery basic questions

I have some questions for you guys please.

1. If a drive is wiped using Windows (NTFS), is that mean that the data stored with mac (HFS) is wiped too?

2. Can we recover data from a DBAN (Gutmann) wiped HDD using any available tools or methods?
