UFC Bantamweight Champion Merab Dvalishvili will attempt to defend his title for the first time against Umar Nurmagomedov in the co-main event, and ahead of UFC 311 the undefeated Nurmagomedov is currently lined as a sizeable favorite to unseat the Georgian.
For Craig Borsari, UFC’s Chief Content Officer and Executive Producer, that begins with the arena’s 38,375-square-foot, double-sided Halo Board, which UFC is working with digital agency Spinifex Group to program with more than 100 4K creative elements. Those elements will include everything from bespoke animations for fighter walkouts and decisions to live stats and betting odds over the course of their seven-hour show.
“It’s going to feel like a sportsbook at times,” Borsari told SBJ in a phone interview this week. “It’s such an amazing technology – and real estate – for us to tap into. We’re going to try to strike that right balance between offering up the right visuals, but also information to enhance the experience for fans, both in attendance and at home watching on broadcast.”
Borsari added that UFC will “lean into the Halo as a broadcast element” using a four-point cable cam system, additional RF Steadicam, and additional fish-eye camera (to capture wide shots). They will also bring in an interior and exterior drone for unique shots, as WWE, its sister company under the TKO Group umbrella, did for its “Monday Night Raw” Netflix debut at Intuit Dome earlier this month.
