Interesting Seagate SSHD Behavior

So this is something I haven't seen before. This ST500LM000 drive arrived head stuck. After freeing up the heads I powered it on, it ID'd just fine. I started to backup resources and during the process PC-3000 automatically power cycled it. As soon as it powered down, it got head stuck again. I could actually hear it happen. Seems like the motor controller isn't working properly to power the PCB and park the heads.

Fortunately, even after freeing up the heads twice, it's still reading at a good speed from all heads.

Jared ,
I think this issue is more or less related to PCB in this case .As You Know That The Voice Coil Does Get Current From PCB might be there is somewhat of a issue in this .Because if the power goes the hdd should reach back in parking area ,Its more related the main MCU as thats the ic driving the internal HSA via connector less likely a motor ic issue "but cannot be ruled out too "

Either way I don't really care. The data is 100% recovered already. I just had to be sure it didn't get power cycled during imaging. Case closed.
