So I'm probably not the only one who's annoyed by the Windows smart move taking an hour to just rename a folder that is full of data (something we do daily in data recovery). Apparently, this Smart Move popup that appears whenever you rename a folder full of files is creating symbolic links in the file system to all the old file locations. Obviously for data recovery purposes this is more of a problem than a help.
Here's how to disable it.
1. Install Link Shell Extension along with its dependancy install from here: http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshel ... l#Download
2. From The Start Menu Run: LSEConfig
3. Uncheck the box "Smart Move" as seen here:
