Just to confirm.....

Hi

I have swapped heads on a 750GB 2,5" Hitachi HTS547575A9E384. I could read 99% of 3 of the 4 heads.
Head 0 can't read nothing on surface (not 1 single sector), but I can read modules from copy 0. These modules are read by head 0, right?
So the head is OK, but the surface is bad? Correct?
Or should I swap heads again?

Thanks

Sometimes a head can read SA but not sectors because it's either weak or maybe just not calibrated well to the drive. The SA is less dense than the actual user area, so it's easier for the head to read.

I've seen it plenty of times. Not usually with Hitachi but I certainly have seen it on plenty of WD's.

I think, even so, I have most of the client's data.
I will check with him and if necessary I will try another head swap.
Thanks
