Preview RAW and CR2 Files in Windows

This is something I just discovered. Microsoft actually has a codec pack to be able to see thumbnails for RAW digital camera formats such as CR2.

It always annoyed me that Mac OS could preview them and Windows couldn't.

Faststone Image Viewer has been able to view and edit RAW Canon files for years. It's my go-to viewer/editor. I don't believe I had to install any special codec.

Yeah, it only took one Google search to find it once I thought to ask the right question. I guess I had just always assumed it wasn't possible. I would have thought they would have just included something like this as an automatic update.

Seriously? You thought that MS would include something useful in their OS? It seems to me that they are more likely to remove anything useful and replace them with features and apps we don't want.

Yeah, but they actually committed the time to make the plugin to Windows. So why not just push it out? Makes no sense to me, must be a way to get back at Cannon for something they did.
