I can't wait to share this one.
I had this 1TB Samsung came in for Recovery. It wasn't spinning so I quickly taught it's a case of Head Stuck on Platter, to my greatest surprise, on opening it in my clean chamber everything looks perfect. So I started with PCB replacement and still didn't spin up. So I checked the spindle and noticed it wasn't moving freely and giving some unpleasant noise when try rotating it manually.
So I concluded on doing Platter Transplant. I have never I had a case of spindle failure, so am a little scared. Though I have had several Platter Swap practice in the past, just practise.
I started the procedure, using the tape method, it lasted about 12Mins. It was highly successful and imaging was a bit slow from the beginning but after a while I was getting 98mb/s on all heads.
Project Completed Successfully!!
I have never been this happy!
Thank you guys.
