does the ROM chip getting hot when powered on ?

Sorry for the delay, but yes the ROM chip does get hot on the pcb when power is being sent to it. Any thoughts? Thank you.

then there is short there
remove it
remove excess solder if needed
use a bit flux
put it place
use a hot air gun (DO NOT PRESS IT DOWN, the short was caused by pressing it down)

Hi!
I've got the exactly same situation. USB drive spins but is not detected (led doesn't light). It seems there's something hot on the board, near the connector. Board number is 100760718 REV. C, drive is an Seagate ST1000LM025 PN: HN-M101ABB/ESA 1TB F/W: 2BA30003 from 05/2016. I'm in search for a SATA replacement board. I've got some Samsung ST1000LM024 drives, and tomorrow will try to find the so wanted 100720903 board.

BF41-00282A --->BF41-00249B, this only works for me after transfering the Marvel Chip..

That's probably due to a difference in firmware version.

I have same issue

Patient HM502JX/VPK BF41 00282A 00 usb Korea
Donor Hm500JI BF41 00294B 02 Sata China

Patient had water damaged. Clicking nonstop. PCB light working. But It's usb PCB. I am not sure about is PCB still good .
I couldn't get ROM .There is no external Rom chip. Tried to line Sata connector (removed 4 capacitors ). tried to RX TX point to read. But couldn't.


So I have 2 question.

1)Is that PCB compatible . Is this drive has unique ROM ? Do I have to read ROM from patient.
2) Is it compatible for head swap. (I guess % 25 )
