This looks like it's intended to the the new HDD killer. I'm sure the cost will be prohibitive at first as it's intended for enterprise usage, but as others follow it'll become mainstream. I'd guess that within 5-7 years we'll all need to either retire or move over to SSD recovery work. Should be fun once there's 600 NANDs in them .

I still think HAMR and TDMR will still be easier to deal with than an encrypted nightmare of an impossible number of NAND pages to XOR and piece back together.

The problem is that it is easier to build magnetic media than solid-state memory, and most manufacturers will be moving to SSD soon, and the more they produce, the cheaper it gets. We just have to up our games and be prepared. Most predictions are that, in 10 years, SSD will be cheaper that HDD. In Africa for now, SSD is just like golds and diamonds, you don't see them often..

I'm installing SSD's every week (2, 3 at least...).
Let's see when will they fail.

I think the more developed nations where people spend more on speed and performance the SSD transition will happen faster. Developing nations will be using spinners for many years to come. Perhaps I'll just have to move my practice over to Nigeria with Bankole when SSDs fully take over here. Not sure how I'll handle the heat though, pretty hot there.
