toshiba dealing with damaged heads and surface

Having accumulated experience in difficult cases with other brands I started prepare myself to work with toshiba , then I noticed you can't do hot swap and disable heads in rom in toshiba drives what raised the question how can you deal in media damage cases that I do get from time to time,usually it's two platters drives with some scratches.
Anyway you answered my question,the only way is to bend heads (in middle heads I might try to cut physically) and from your experience the drive should be ready after a while if the sa platter is good.
