WD Board Swap Question

Possibly, though that error usually means bad heads or wrong ROM code for the drive. So the donor drive was never working since you had it then... yeah, not a good start, too many variables to know what's happening.

I don't recall ever seeing a USB only Passport without a U12 ROM. A quick read of the ROM from the USB PCB with PC3K via terminal should be enough to get it saved out. Program the donor SATA with the saved ROM. Then complete your diagnosis and recovery of the drive, keeping in mind that the data is encrypted.

Shasta USB have internal ROM.

Hi all,
I have WD10JMVM the board is 2060-771961-001 rev a

my question; is the u12 enough to swap or I must swap the u14 as well? The U14 is encryption only?

Thanks in advanced

Edit: Yes it worked, Like Larry said U12 is enough.

Thanks all for the info
