Yes, I've tried various LBA from all throughout the drive to no avail. Reading stops right around the 257,000 LBA mark. It's puzzling!

I think I picked some difficult test cases to start off with, at least I hope that's what's going on... ;-D Trial by fire, perhaps.

Usually when you have that kind of symptom, is a translator issue.
But as you say that you have a bad head, that could also be the problem.
You can always try to regen translator and see how it goes.
