Interesting... a SATA to SATA cross compatible match. Perhaps we should start a new thread to keep track of that.

I'll create a sticky thread and add that one to it. That way if guys have others they want to contribute they can. It stands to reason that drives which are the same family, or from families that are cross-compatible for heads, should have a good chance the PCBs are cross-compatible too. Provided the motor controller and main IC are close enough.

Does it matter if the donor drive has a difference cache size than the patient? I've found a 771959 board on a WD5000LPCX with 16MB Cache to swap over to a USB WD5000LMVW with 8MB Cache. Is that ok?
